Summary

In October 2002, the crew of an A320 flying from Lisbon to Orly observed two very bright lights passing quickly above their aircraft at an estimated distance of over 35 kilometers. The lights followed a fast, descending trajectory, which caught the crew's attention. Although it might initially seem like an unexplained phenomenon, researchers concluded it was likely an atmospheric re-entry, which the crew also identified as such. This case was classified as category B by the GEIPAN, suggesting a plausible but not fully confirmed explanation.
