🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In January 2003, a driver and his passenger in Corsica observed a bright green light with white flashes crossing the sky from south to north. The witnesses described a circular shape and a fast, silent trajectory. Although initially classified as unknown, the GEIPAN re-examined the case using new methods and accumulated experience. The observed elements, such as intense colors and short duration, are typical of meteorite atmospheric entry. Despite differences in the details perceived by each witness, no noise was detected, which is common in such phenomena. After this re-evaluation, the case was reclassified as a probable meteorite atmospheric entry.
