Summary

In August 2007, a photographer in Malleville-sur-le-Bec (France) discovered a strange image in one of his photos. The images had been taken from about 1800 meters away using a powerful zoom and a teleconverter. Upon reviewing the photos, it became clear that the object was simply a large bird taking off at the moment of the shot. Due to the distance, the use of the zoom, and the fact that the photographer was inside his car, he didn't notice the bird in the first photo and it was already gone in the third. This type of error is quite common, especially when it comes to birds that go unnoticed due to their size or movement. The brain, focused on the shot, often ignores elements that we consider everyday, like a bird in flight.
