On May 21, 2008, a witness in Gemenos (France) observed a bright object crossing the sky from south to northeast. The white and very luminous object was moving quickly, curving in its trajectory, and was completely silent. Although the initial description raised curiosity, a detailed investigation confirmed the phenomenon was the International Space Station (ISS). This satellite, particularly bright since the installation of its solar panels, was visible in Aubagne between 22:42 and 22:47, matching the witness account. The clear sky and the ISS's negative magnitude (around -4) explain the intensity of the observed light.
