On May 4, 2008, a driver in Lacroix-sur-Meuse observed a dozen orange glowing spheres hovering in the sky for five minutes. No unusual sounds were reported, adding to the enigma of the event. Although the witness provided limited information, researchers suggest it might be related to so-called "flying lanterns," a phenomenon frequently reported in the region during that period. Between May and July 2008, several similar sightings were recorded in eastern France, hinting at a possible common explanation, though not yet confirmed.
