Summary

On June 13, 2008, several witnesses in Paris observed luminous phenomena from their homes. A video showed bright lights moving from the northeast to the northwest. People on the street also saw them, and many internet users posted accounts on various websites. Although multiple low-luminosity objects followed the same trajectory, investigators concluded it was likely a release of Thai lanterns during a festive event. These lanterns, common in celebrations, are hard to trace, and the GEIPAN encouraged those using them to report their activities.
