🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On May 12, 2008, a photographer took two pictures of Fort Lalatte in Plevenon, Côtes-d'Armor. Later, while reviewing the photos, a dark spot appeared on one of them, something that had not been noticed at the time of the shot. The spot was not visible in the other photo, which generated some curiosity. Although there were no direct observations of what could have caused the spot, many possible explanations exist, from technical errors to unidentified flying objects. However, none of these hypotheses can be verified with certainty, which keeps the case in category C of the GEIPAN, meaning unexplained but without conclusive evidence.
The case does not include direct testimonies or additional observations, which limits the possibilities for investigation. Although the spot could have been caused by a physical object or even a natural phenomenon, there is no way to confirm it. Cases like this, where there is only photographic evidence and no direct observation, are common in the database of unexplained phenomena. While the possibility of a UFO cannot be ruled out, it also cannot be proven, keeping the case in a limbo between the mysterious and the conventional.
