On October 31, 2016, several witnesses in Outreau observed two oval-shaped white or cream objects in the sky. The objects gradually moved away and disappeared from view. Only one testimony was recorded. According to the report, it is likely the witness mistook airplanes for UFOs. At that time, the sun was behind the observer, creating reflections that made the planes appear as wingless objects. At 10 km altitude and 50 km distance, the planes appeared at an angle of about 10 degrees, which could explain the oval shape perceived. The variation in speed and distance between the planes could also have created the illusion of two parallel-moving objects. Although the testimony was unique, the phenomenon did not surprise locals, who are used to seeing planes in the area.
