🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In August 2008, several people in Saint-Nazaire noticed a stationary dark spot on the sun during the afternoon. The GEIPAN was informed by phone, but no additional testimonies or information were received to investigate the phenomenon. Without enough data to determine the nature of the object, the case was classified as C, indicating an unexplained observation. Although it was unclear whether it was a natural phenomenon or an unknown object, the spot remained still, sparking curiosity among witnesses.
The lack of images or additional records limited the possibility of deeper analysis. The GEIPAN, responsible for studying unexplained phenomena in France, could not determine if it was a space particle, an atmospheric formation, or something more unusual. Cases like this, although unresolved, help keep the UFO sighting database updated and prepared for future investigations.
