On December 14, 2008, several witnesses in Saint-Pierre, La Réunion, observed a spherical orange object moving silently for about 20 seconds from east to northwest. The trajectory was perfectly straight and left no trail, and the object disappeared after a brief flicker of its light. One witness mentioned having seen similar objects the previous week, suggesting this was not an isolated event. The Observatory of the Makes referred to these lights as "vux lanterns," similar to traditional Thai lanterns. This hypothesis was confirmed when the main witness observed them again on Christmas night.
