🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On April 22, 2009, an amateur astronomer in Chartrettes (France) observed a fixed object in the sky displaying intense color variations—green, red, and blue—with changing brightness. According to the witness, the phenomenon lasted about 15 seconds. Although it might initially seem like a UFO sighting, the GEIPAN investigators considered it could be a temporary reflection on a satellite, such as an Iridium flare or a reflection on a rotating satellite. However, due to the time elapsed and lack of additional information, this hypothesis could not be verified. The case was ultimately classified as "C" due to insufficient data.
Despite the event's brevity, the detailed description from the observer and the variability in color and brightness raise some curiosity. This type of phenomenon, often explainable by known space objects, reminds us of the importance of maintaining a critical yet open-minded approach in UFO research. In this case, the lack of images or additional testimonies limited the possibility of a more precise evaluation, highlighting the challenges of studying brief and isolated events.
