🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On May 17, 2009, around 1 a.m., two people observed a dozen orange glowing points in the sky that seemed to come from the same location and silently moved toward Grange-sur-Lot. The objects disappeared on the horizon. The witness provided several reconstruction and positioning photographs, but unfortunately, the video was not transmitted to GEIPAN. No other testimonies were collected. Although the situation was not particularly strange, the detailed account gave it high consistency. The case is considered a possible confusion with the release of Chinese lanterns. However, the lack of precise meteorological data from the observation site and the region prevents a definitive conclusion. For this reason, the case was classified as C: lack of precise meteorological information and cross-checks to confirm the lantern hypothesis.
