On August 28, 2009, a driver in Meurthe-et-Moselle observed the slow side-by-side movement of several red and orange lights in the night sky. Other witnesses also looked at the phenomenon, but no further testimonies were collected. Due to the low level of strangeness, the case was classified as B. Investigators suggest it could have been the passage of Thai lanterns, common during certain celebrations.
The phenomenon was brief and no physical effects or additional data were recorded. Although an unidentified object was not ruled out, the lack of stronger evidence and the context of similar artificial lights led to a low priority classification.
