On the night of August 5, 2009, two people in Audun-le-Tiche (France) observed a very bright circular object from their home. The main witness recorded the phenomenon and noticed the object moving very slowly horizontally. Although initially intriguing, the astronomical configuration and confirmation that it was a full moon night helped identify the object. It turned out to be Jupiter, which was exceptionally visible at that time of year. With an apparent magnitude of -2.8 and a maximum angular diameter of 48 arc seconds, the planet could easily be mistaken for an unidentified object.
