On September 6, 2009, two witnesses in Nancy observed several orange glowing balls moving west to east from their homes. The objects were evenly spaced and silent, which made the event intriguing. Although initially considered an unexplained phenomenon, local media later reported that many people had similar sightings. It was eventually discovered that the glowing balls were actually a hundred Thai lanterns released during a wedding celebration. This case, classified as "A" by the GEIPAN, illustrates how cultural events can be misinterpreted as mysterious occurrences.
