🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On September 6, 2009, a witness in Martres-Tolosane observed the passage of 12 yellow-orange glowing spheres in the sky from their terrace. The movement was silent and ascending, with light gradually fading. One of the provided photos showed the Moon in relation to the spheres, although the direction indicated by the witness turned out to be incorrect. The spheres appeared to move towards the southeast, matching the wind direction. The phenomenon lasted no more than five minutes, with a progressive extinction of light, a slow trajectory, and changing relative positions between the spheres. These elements, along with the time and color, support the hypothesis of Thai lanterns. Without finding the origin of these lanterns, the GEIPAN classified the case as "B", meaning a probable observation of Thai lanterns.
