🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On September 26, 2009, a witness in the Territoire de Belfort area observed a very bright silver-colored ball slowly moving horizontally across the sky before suddenly disappearing. The GEIPAN report concludes that this was likely a balloon illuminated by the sun. Given the absence of wind, it could have been a fairground or children's balloon nearby that burst, or a weather balloon farther away and high in the sky. The B classification indicates that the most plausible explanation is an illuminated aerostatic object.
