In November 2009, two people observed a bright red light in the night sky while traveling toward Villefranche-sur-Mer. The object changed direction and disappeared, but the witness managed to take a photo and contact a relative who also saw it. According to the account, the object landed on a hill, rose again, and then vanished in a white flash. Despite the detailed description, only one official testimony was recorded and no additional data was obtained. The report notes that the wind was strong and variable, which could explain part of the unusual trajectory. However, the sudden disappearance in a flash did not fit with a traditional Thai lantern. The case was classified as insufficient due to the lack of reliable information.
