On March 6, 2010, a driver and passengers in Isère observed a dozen orange-red glowing spheres moving silently across the sky. The event lasted over five minutes and was recorded on a mobile phone. Witnesses described the phenomenon as resembling Thai lanterns, but no local festival was known at the time. After a local newspaper published the story, a person admitted to releasing 13 Thai lanterns during a private celebration. The investigation concluded that the sighting was indeed a lantern release from a nearby event.
