On the night of March 17, 2010, a driver in the Haute-Garonne region observed an orange luminous phenomenon near the horizon. Intrigued, he stopped and took photographs before the object disappeared. The witness described a shape similar to a thin crescent, which caught attention due to its color and position.
The GEIPAN investigation concluded that the phenomenon was actually the final phase of a new moon, still partially illuminated by the sun. This kind of phenomenon, known as a "crescent moon," can be mistaken for an unidentified object due to its unusual appearance. The images and testimonies align with what is expected during this lunar phase, resolving the case naturally.
