On the early morning of April 17, 2010, a woman and her daughter near Bourg-en-Bresse witnessed a luminous object moving rapidly across the sky. They described a green ball splitting into two before disappearing. Although it seemed mysterious, researchers concluded it was a meteor entering the atmosphere. The description, drawings, and data matched a record from the amateur BOAM network, which captured the same event from over 100 kilometers away.
The green light observed is typical of atmospheric ionization during a meteor's entry. Additionally, the testimony included precise details such as time, direction, and the apparent parallel movement with the horizon, which reinforced the match with the scientific record. This case is an example of how what seems like an unidentified object can be explained by natural phenomena and accessible scientific data.
