Summary

On the night of May 2 to 3, 2010, a witness in Favieres (Meurthe-et-Moselle, France) observed two luminous spheres that appeared and disappeared unexpectedly. The first moved rapidly toward the southeast and vanished suddenly. A few seconds later, a second sphere appeared and executed a 180-degree downward turn before disappearing. Although the GEIPAN followed up on the case, no additional information was obtained to support a deeper investigation. The B classification suggests it may have been a sighting of flying lanterns, a common explanation for night observations without further evidence.

The testimony is notable for its precise timing and location, but the lack of physical evidence or additional witnesses limited the investigation. Despite the GEIPAN's efforts to gather more data, no progress was made. The B classification indicates the likelihood that this was a known phenomenon, such as flying lanterns, rather than an unexplained one. This case, like many others, highlights the difficulty of distinguishing between the conventional and the unusual in ufology.
