On June 4, 2010, at 23:15, a witness in Montpellier observed three luminous points in the sky. These objects were stationary, the same size, and disappeared simultaneously. The witness did not want to give an official statement and no other testimonies were collected. The description of the phenomenon, with the successive appearance of one point and then three, suggests the use of flying lights or lanterns that turn on and off. Weather conditions in the area indicated a light north wind, consistent with the movement described by the witness. Although the event was not classified as strange, flying lanterns are considered the most likely explanation.
