UFO sighted by pilots on international flight

Summary

An Airbus 330 on a Nouméa to Seoul flight reported a very bright luminous object on June 27, 2010. At 12,500 meters altitude, the pilots observed a point moving rapidly in a straight line toward the southeast. They estimated a speed of Mach 6, but no signs of combustion were noted. Air traffic control in Guam was contacted, and an American Airlines flight confirmed the sighting. The phenomenon lasted five minutes before disappearing from view. Although a satellite was considered, GEIPAN concluded it was the International Space Station (ISS), as time, position, and duration matched. However, without reference points, distance and speed estimates are unreliable, so the pilots likely perceived it as closer than it actually was.
