Summary

On August 26, 2010, two people in Mottier (France) saw a luminous object in the sky that suddenly broke apart. The object, moving in a straight line from north to south, split into four distinct pieces. Remarkably, no sound was heard during its movement or disintegration. The gendarmerie recorded the event and the report reached the GEIPAN in November of the same year. After investigation, experts concluded it was likely a Thai lantern. These lights, common in festivals, were part of a trial before a mass launch scheduled for the following weekend.
