In September 2010, a driver in Saint-Jacques-sur-Darnetal noticed a glowing ball that caught his attention. The light, initially white-yellowish, shifted to an orange hue before suddenly disappearing. The object, oval-shaped and seemingly stationary, did not display typical characteristics of aircraft or satellites. Its behavior, along with wind direction, suggested the possibility of a Thai lantern. However, its sudden disappearance caused some surprise.
The case was recorded by the GEIPAN and classified as category B, indicating no clear explanation. Although a luminous balloon was considered, no remains or confirmation of a launch were found. The case remains an unresolved mystery, added to the file of unexplained aerial phenomena in France.
