In March 2011, two witnesses in Chatillon-sur-Indre observed several red-orange luminous objects moving in a straight line across the sky. The phenomenon occurred silently and was recorded on video and photographed. The witnesses did not report any sounds during the observation, adding an air of mystery to the event. Although the witnesses described the phenomenon as similar to Thai lanterns, they also considered the possibility of Chinese lanterns. After reviewing all the evidence, the GEIPAN concluded that it was likely an observation of Thai lanterns, a hypothesis not dismissed by the witnesses themselves.
