Summary

On July 18, 2011, around 9:15 PM, a witness in the Var department (France) observed a series of orange glowing spheres and white flashes above the Tanneron massif. These lights were unusual in that they disappeared and reappeared without making any noise. The witness, from their home, took several photographs of the phenomenon. Although the case was rated as low strangeness, the consistency of the images suggested a possible confusion with aircraft near Nice airport, which that day had unusual configurations due to strong westerly winds. Other elements described by the witness also point to civilian aircraft, although the imprecision of the testimony does not allow this to be confirmed with certainty.
