🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On September 10, 2011, several people in Saint-Brice-Courcelettes observed lights in the sky moving with the wind. Witnesses described luminous objects with an orange-yellow hue and a brighter central area, which matched the typical description of Thai lanterns. These are often released during special occasions and are known to drift with the wind. Although the case was initially considered unexplained, the detailed description and timing suggest the use of such lanterns. However, since no one could be identified as the person who released them, the GEIPAN classified the case as B—likely caused by Thai lanterns.
