🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In September 2011, a witness in Juvisy-sur-Ogre observed a formation of about a dozen spheres arranged in a pyramid shape from their balcony. The witness described how these objects moved silently in a trajectory opposite to that of planes descending toward Orly airport. As the witness attempted to record with their camera, part of the objects disappeared, leaving only two that quickly ascended into a dense cloud. Although it initially seemed like an unexplained phenomenon, the GEIPAN concluded that these were likely Thai lanterns. The red color, collective movement, upward trajectory, and disappearance after a few minutes are typical of such objects, especially on festive evenings with a light breeze. The case was classified as "B," indicating a plausible explanation and not an unexplained phenomenon.
