🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On October 23, 2011, just after 4:45 a.m., a driver and her passenger observed a luminous phenomenon in the sky displaying colors ranging from blue to red. The object had an unusual shape and remained stationary for over 30 minutes without producing any sound. Despite the length of the observation, only one witness contacted the authorities to report the event. The testimony described triangles and luminous lines, which generated some intrigue. However, the GEIPAN concluded that the phenomenon could be explained as an astronomical observation of the star Sirius, which appears low on the horizon. Stars like Sirius are often misidentified under such conditions due to intense scintillation. Although there was a discrepancy in the reported position, the case was classified as B, meaning it is likely astronomical.
