Summary

On January 1, 2012, two witnesses in a car observed a mysterious object in the sky over Vosges. The object was moving silently from west to east and emitting a yellow-orange glow. Although they disagreed on its shape—one described it as triangular and the other as circular—they both agreed on the light and movement. The object disappeared behind a wooded area. Despite the differences in perception, the GEIPAN classified the case as "B", suggesting it was likely a Thai lantern. That night, there were many such lantern releases, making a definitive identification difficult.
