Atmospheric reentry in Manche 2012

Summary

On January 24, 2012, at around 7:50 AM, several witnesses in the Lorraine region of France observed a bright phenomenon in the sky. The GEIPAN received multiple accounts describing a fast-moving luminous object. After reviewing the testimonies, it was concluded that the event was a bolide, meaning the atmospheric entry of a natural meteoroid, likely a small asteroid. The reforme-meteor network also confirmed the event as a natural meteor. This case was classified as "A," indicating no anomalous or unexplained elements were found.
