A witness reported an old observation during New Year's Eve. While waiting for the local fireworks, he saw a cylindrical object with a red light in the center, passing above him under low clouds. He briefly lost sight of the object to get his camera, and his son continued watching. According to the child, the object disappeared leaving a red trail. Weather conditions showed a very cloudy sky and a strong westerly wind. Although the movement didn't seem to follow the wind, the description matched the characteristics of Thai lanterns. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B", meaning a probable observation of Thai lanterns. These objects are often released in large numbers during celebrations like New Year's Eve. The unusual appearance could be explained by the observation through clouds. Although the movement wasn't continuous, it's possible that two similar objects came from the west. The most plausible hypothesis, given the context, is that these were Thai lanterns carried by the wind.
