On February 11, 2012, multiple witnesses in Guadeloupe observed a green luminous phenomenon that quickly crossed the sky from east to west. An air traffic controller, gendarmes, and pilots of flight AFR 3570 confirmed the sighting. The object, described as a very bright ball, traversed the sky in just a few seconds. Initially thought to be a fireball, a meteoroid atmospheric entry, or a space debris, the GEIPAN classified the case as category B, indicating a plausible explanation—in this case, the atmospheric entry of a meteoroid.
