Summary

On March 1, 2012, a witness in Sainte-Sigolène observed a luminous, spherical object moving in a straight line across the sky. The movement was constant and without change in direction. The GEIPAN concluded that the object was likely a large satellite. At the same time, the International Space Station (ISS) was passing over France, from northwest to southeast, between 19:00 and 19:03. Although the testimony mentioned a slightly different time, investigators attributed this to a possible inaccuracy in the witness's watch or the orbital model used. In the end, the case was classified as "A", meaning it was explained as an observation of the ISS.
