🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On April 30, 2012, a witness in Griesheim-pres-Molsheim (France) observed an orange glowing point in the sky, followed by three more that ascended along a continuous path before disappearing. The witness recorded videos that gave the case some consistency, despite common directional inaccuracies. The GEIPAN concluded it was likely a group of Thai lanterns released during celebrations near May Day. Although the local wind direction could not be confirmed with certainty, its general direction was compatible with the observed movement. Additionally, the rain made lantern launching unlikely, and the GEIPAN did not investigate who released them. For these reasons, the case was classified as B, meaning a likely artificial observation.
