On May 6, 2012, a witness in Pau observed three orange lights moving slowly from north to south. Two of them disappeared suddenly, while the third descended toward the ground and was lost behind buildings. The lights, described as glowing spheres, remained visible for a few minutes and moved silently. Although the report suggests they could have been Thai lanterns, the timing was not coincidental: two hours later, the results of the French presidential elections were announced. Some locals might have celebrated the event by launching these lights into the sky. The light and unstable wind could explain the differences in the movement of the lights, while the intensity of the flame made it hard to distinguish details even at a short distance. Additionally, it is mentioned that one of the lights might have lost part of its fuel as it fell.
