Summary

In May 2012, a family in Aube observed hundreds of lights in the sky that frightened them. No noise was heard during the event, increasing the sense of mystery. The Gendarmerie investigated and found out it was 100 Chinese lanterns released during a nearby wedding. The GEIPAN confirmed that local wind conditions were compatible with the movement of the lights. The case was classified as "A", meaning fully identified. The witnesses, surprised and scared, misinterpreted the phenomenon in an exaggerated way, unaware of its simple origin.
