Summary

In May 2012, a witness in Sezanne (Marne) noticed that the grass in a wooded area he owned was flattened in a circle of about 4 meters in diameter. The grass was not only bent but also slightly yellowed, with no signs of animal or vehicle interference. Although the phenomenon appeared unusual, no detailed inspections or measurements were carried out, limiting possible conclusions. The only available evidence was a single photograph from the witness, which did not allow confirmation of whether the phenomenon was caused by a vortex or local weather conditions. Ultimately, the case was classified as "C" by the GEIPAN, indicating that no clear cause could be identified.

The GEIPAN assessment concluded that, despite the intriguing nature of the case, the lack of objective data and a more thorough inspection prevented the establishment of a conclusive explanation. The testimony, although fairly precise, came from a single source and lacked additional support. Despite the apparent rarity of the phenomenon, no correlations with similar events or weather data could be found. Therefore, the case remains unresolved, highlighting the importance of more exhaustive data collection in such investigations.
