🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On June 17, 2012, a couple was driving home when the passenger noticed several non-flashing orange glowing spheres in the clear sky. These lights were at low altitude and caught the witness's attention. Although only one testimony was collected, the GEIPAN considered the possibility of Thai lanterns, often used in private celebrations. Such lanterns typically disappear within minutes as their burners run out of fuel. The witness, surprised by the sight, mentioned that others also observed the lights but did not report them to the GEIPAN or the gendarmerie. As a result, the case was classified as likely caused by lanterns.
