🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
A witness reported an observation on July 7, 2012, at 22:40. He saw several yellow or orange balls pass silently from east to west, aligned and evenly spaced. The witness compared them to Thai lanterns: balls of fire moving horizontally, in groups, without noise. In Strasbourg, the wind was blowing gently from the north at 23:00 and from the south at 20:00. Although it cannot be affirmed with certainty that the wind was blowing from the east in Niedermodern, it is possible. Private parties are common on summer Saturdays and often end with the release of Thai lanterns. The GEIPAN classified this case as "B", likely observation of Thai lanterns.
