On July 26, 2012, a witness in Montchaboud observed a dim, vaporous ball silently crossing the sky. The object moved rapidly from south to north, displaying bright points below and small trail-like features at the back. The observation lasted six seconds before the object disappeared behind a roof. Despite the quality of the testimony, no other reports or photographic evidence were available.
The GEIPAN classified the case as D1, meaning unexplained. Although the phenomenon moved in a straight line, its unusual appearance makes it particularly intriguing. Despite several hypotheses considered, none fit perfectly. The testimony is detailed and precise, written immediately after the event, which strengthens its credibility. However, the lack of additional evidence keeps the mystery alive.
