🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
A witness in Barberaz, in the Savoie region, reported a brief observation of a luminous phenomenon near the horizon on August 8, 2012, at 6:15 AM, shortly before sunrise. The object was seen for only one second, limiting the possibility of detailed analysis. Although the case was recorded by the GEIPAN, the "C" classification indicates there is not enough information to determine its nature. Possible explanations include sunlight reflections on satellites or airplanes, or even a bolide, meaning a space rock entering the atmosphere. Due to the brevity of the sighting, no hypothesis can be ruled out with certainty.
