Summary

On August 8, 2012 at 23:10, a witness in Challans (France) observed two very bright objects moving south to north at high altitude for about one minute. The testimony is brief and no other reports are available. Checking satellite visibility data from that moment shows the International Space Station (ISS) was passing, very bright, along with two other less bright satellites. The ISS was moving from southwest to northeast, while the other two satellites followed a south to north trajectory with an approximate 80-second interval. Although the witness could have seen the ISS, their description doesn't match its path. If they saw the other satellites, they weren't particularly bright. Due to the ambiguity and imprecision of the testimony, the GEIPAN classified the case as "B", meaning a likely satellite observation, but without being able to determine exactly which one.
