On the night of September 17, 2012, a witness in Clermont-Ferrand observed two bright objects in the sky. Intrigued by their brightness, the witness took photographs looking east and south. In the east, Venus was identified with a magnitude of -4.7, much brighter than typical stars. In the south, Jupiter was seen with a magnitude of -2.5. Both planets stood out clearly against the rest of the sky. The observation was classified by the GEIPAN as case "A", indicating a clear and verifiable sighting of these celestial bodies.
