🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On October 9, 2012, two people in Lieu-Saint-Amand (France) observed a bright white point moving rapidly across the dark, starry sky from east to west. The object left no visible trail, which is unusual for a meteorite or fireball. Although the event coincided with the peak of the Delta Aurigids meteor shower, it was not recorded in specialized meteor observer databases. The GEIPAN classified the case as "C" due to insufficient information.
A similar observation was reported 20 minutes earlier in Limoges, suggesting it might have been the same event. However, the data provided by the witness is not enough to confirm with certainty whether it was a meteorite or another phenomenon. While the most plausible explanation points to a fireball, the lack of a visible trail and absence of records in meteorite observatories leave other possibilities open.
