In November 2012, a witness in Douarnenez observed a stationary light in the sky flashing green and red. The phenomenon remained still and drew the attention of others, who also confirmed it. The gendarmerie was alerted and arrived on site, verifying the same phenomenon. However, air traffic control reported no similar observations, and radar systems detected nothing unusual. Despite humidity and wind, no bright celestial bodies were visible in that direction, although Jupiter was seen. The report concluded it was likely a civil helicopter in night flight, though the testimony was considered brief and imprecise.
GEIPAN classified the case as "B", indicating a probable confusion with a helicopter. Although the phenomenon seemed unusual, no elements made it inexplicable. The lack of images or additional data limited the testimony's reliability. In summary, it was a conventional observation, attributed to a helicopter near Quimper airport.
