🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On January 7, 2013, a driver in Triembach-au-Val (France) observed a flash in the sky for three seconds, followed by a ball with several sparks. No other witnesses were recorded, but the description matched that of a fireball, meaning a meteor entering the atmosphere. That day coincided with the end of the Quadrantids meteor shower. At the time, the sky was heavily cloudy across most of France, except in the southeast, and somewhat less so in Germany, where the observer was looking. The very early hour likely explains the lack of additional reports. Additionally, that same day at 23:45, a large fireball was recorded in central France. The GEIPAN classified this case as "B," meaning a probable observation of a fireball.
