Several witnesses observed unusual shapes in the cloudy sky that disappeared one after another. A child took photos with his mobile phone, leading to a detailed report by the gendarmerie. The images, taken at 1/125 seconds, clearly show what appears to be aircraft contrails. Due to the north wind and low air humidity, these contrails were short. The observation conditions, with the sun setting at 18:01, meant the contrails were still illuminated while the sky began to darken, creating a strong contrast that made them look like flames. When the Earth's shadow reached the contrails, they stopped being visible as they lost their illumination.
